Our History
Unity Visitation Center, Inc was established in 2017 in Central Texas with one employee and only offsite locations. It was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that receives operational income through donations, fundraising, and program offerings, as well as procurement contracts the same year. In 2018, the Department of Family Protective Services contract began, offering procurement contracts serving Regions Three and Seven. They allow us to provide supervised visitation services on a reimbursement fee structured and then paid by the agent pursuant to an agency contract with the program. In 2019, we opened an on-site facility location in Killeen. In 2020, UVC expanded to its office and staff, with a total of six contract employees that provide appropriate visitation and access on site, off-site, and virtual as well as safe exchanges. In 2021, we expanded to the North Texas area as well.
Unity Visitation Center is the future of unified standards of visitation monitoring; it will maximize conflict-free environments while enhancing positive interaction between parent and child(ren) relationships. UVC fosters healthy parent/child(ren) relationships, reduces domestic conflict, reduces overworked social workers, provides integrity in legal document recording, and provides safety for children and family violence victims. The clients will not only be able have a safe and consistent visitation and access, but will also allow parent child(ren) attachment, eases separation, strengthen family ties, motivates parents to make positive changes, provides resources and opportunities to learn new skills, provides transparency with the assessment of the child(ren) and how to meet their needs. This in turn, is in the best interest of the children.
The Executive Director has over a decade of experience, training related to the field of supervised visitation and exchanges, expertise in legal studies and social services. UVC staff has a director, program coordinator, employee contractors, and interns. Partnerships with local universities allow UVC to become a learning environment and continuously monitor assistance to families in need. Many cases accepted include domestic conflict, threat to safety, denial of access, parental alienation effort, social and familial isolation, mental and substance abuse, sexual abuse, child abuse/neglect or protective services involvement, and first-time parents. Program eligibility is referral based and based on the assessment of the family needs for services. The beneficiary must complete an administrative process which includes: application, interview, and payment of fees. Clients are accepted on a referral basis from an agency, the court, or as a self referral.
